In commemoration of Fair Housing Month in April, the Commission on Human Rights will be hosting a housing symposium: “Your Home, Your Rights: Immigrant Rights in Housing.” As we seen growing cases on tenants being threatened by ICE with deportation. Tenants are also being harassed because of their perceived/actual immigration status and afraid to file complaints, as they are not sure of how to file or scared that filing a complaint would get them in trouble. The Commission on Human Rights have partnered with Enterprise Community Partners, Human Resources Administration, Mayor’s Office to Protect Tenants, and Mayors Office of Immigrant Affair, to provide resources and information on applying for assistance with rental arrears, the FASTEN Program, immigrant rights and protections in housing, and to demystify the community’s concerns of filing complaints and receiving help from the city.
