A Brooklyn-born attorney has thrown his hat in the ring for public advocate — as an ally of President Trump who wants to “Make NYC Great Again.”

Manny Alicandro, 49, is one of 17 candidates in the Feb. 26 special election, but the only one boasting that he’s pro-Trump.

He says he’s spoken to the president, who encouraged him to run.

“He’s happy that I’m a pro-Trump candidate and there’s a pro-Trump candidate in the race,” said Alicandro.

“I’m the only pro-Trump candidate in the race and that’s important because there’s a bunch of Democrats and there’s one Republican who’s an anti-Trumper and it’s important to point that out.”

Despite the president’s dismal popularity ratings in the city, Alicandro said, “I think we’ll do great.”

“I really feel strongly that the people in this city — believe it or not — a lot of them are supportive of Trump,” the Wall Street lawyer said. “They’re just not necessarily comfortable talking about it.”

“Most importantly, putting aside Democrat or Republican, they want someone who can be an effective leader and they see that in me,” said Alicandro, who previously was shut out when he tried to run as the GOP candidate for state attorney general and state comptroller.

“When Trump was president-elect, the mayor of New York [Bill de Blasio] was actually right here having a press conference that he was gonna stand up for New Yorkers against Trump. I take major issue with that,” Alicandro said.

Alicandro, a father of two college-age children, called himself a “true outsider” to Big Apple politics and vowed to tackle the city’s homeless crisis, scandal-plagued NYCHA and the struggling MTA if he becomes public advocate.

The only other Republican in the public advocate race is City Councilman Eric Ulrich of Queens, who has been critical of Trump.
